solar panels for houses

Solar panels for houses

Solar panels for houses generate electricity from light and any excess is usually returned to the grid. This means after dark you are relying on your energy supplier to provide electricity at a chargeable rate. The new range of Solar PV battery storage means you can store your energy and use it at any time day or night and ultimately reduce your dependence on your energy supplier, also protecting yourself from future electricity price rises.

JTE can perform a free no obligation survey and create a tailor made package for you that will deliver maximum benefit.

To find out if your property is suitable for a solar PV system, CLICK HERE

  The process is simple:

1. Register your details

2. Desktop survey –  Our design team will carry out an unobtrusive desk-top survey to ensure your property is suitable.  We will check your roof type, the orientation of your property in relation to the sun and look for any obstructions.

3. Results – We will contact you with the results of the initial survey.  If your property is suitable we will book an appointment for one of our team to visit your home and talk you through the process.

4. Quote – The assessor will provide you with a detailed quote and explanation of what is involved.

5. Install – the system will be installed and a support pack will be left.

6. Saving – start saving of your energy bills!

What are the benefits of solar panels for houses?

Reduced Energy Bills

Solar panels for houses will generate FREE electricity for your home which can be used instead of paying for electricity from your energy provider.  It is unlikely that your residential solar panels will be able to generate enough electricity to power your home continuously, but by adding a battery storage facility to your residential solar panels you will benefit from the maximum amount of electricity generated.

Feed-in Tariff

Feed -in tariff payments are tax free incentive rewards which home owners receive for generating their own energy and feeding back any unused energy into the grid.  The payments are received for 20 years following the installation and registration of solar panels for houses.

There are two types of tariffs, both of which are adjusted quarterly in line with the Retail Price Index of inflation. They are:

Generation Tariff – this is a fixed payment for each kWh of electricity the system generates.

It is captured by a meter on the system, similar to a normal electricity meter.

Export Tariff – this is another fixed payment for each kWh of electricity which the system generates and is then fed into the National Grid as it hasn’t been used.

Both of these tariffs create a return on the investment made in buying residential solar panels.  So along with reduced energy bills they are a great incentive to generating your own energy!

Increased Home Value

Just like a renovated living room or kitchen, Solar panels are viewed as a home improvement or upgrade, therefore purchasing a solar energy system could increase your home’s value. Studies show that buyers pay a premium for a solar home, with even studies like the ‘Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory study’ showing that more often than not, solar increased the value of a home by an average of $15,000. Although, market factors such as electricity rates and system size could impact the extent of the premium, solar homes can sell for more than homes without.

Environmental

As well as reducing water consumption on a personal and financial level, solar power can also  reduce a home’s carbon footprint. For every kilowatt-hour (kWk) of solar power generated, not only is there a substantial reduction in the CO2 emissions, but also other dangerous pollutants such as sulphur oxides, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter.

Easy installation and maintenance.

Compared to other renewable energy sources, Solar panels have a very easy and simple installation process. In just a couple of days, solar panels can be installed on any suitable roof and you can even start benefitting from the clean energy the next day. Due to the simplicity of the mechanism, the ‘solar panel’ systems are very easy to maintain and clean. Moreover, the systems have very long lifespans due to the lack of moving parts, meaning that there are no constant costs and you can start saving from day one.

Benefits of Voltage Optimisers

There are several factors as to why many people, companies or organisations are turning and promoting voltage optimisers as a solution to energy conservation. The main factor being saving money on electrical bills.

Voltage optimisers can save an average household around 15% through the National Grid. In three years or less, the initial investment is paid back through these savings, thus making savings for large homes or buildings that have a high energy consumption perfect for voltage optimisers.

This method of producing green energy, apart from being very beneficial to the environment (as it reduces carbon emissions by up to 25%), also reduces the overall voltage used, thus resulting in lower electricity used and a decrease in the amount of power consumed. These all being benefits for the environment as less non-renewable or fossil fuels are used.

Finally, optimisers (as suggested in the name), optimise and increase the life of electronics. Seeing that optimisers are always set to a very specific voltage or automatically adjust to a lower voltage, harmful spikes that can severely damage the hardware are prevented.
